Darling Point Apartments

Country / Gadigal

Tribe were commissioned to add full-width balconies to the waterfront side of an apartment block in Sydney's East in order to give the building a whole new appearance to the harbour whilst increasing the amenity and value of each apartment. The design approach incorporated a light steel frame that is unobtrusive to the views and offers a sympathetic response to the existing 1960s red brick apartment building. Tribe sought to keep column diameters as small as possible to prevent loss of harbour views, while creating a dynamic composition from the water. The addition reinvigorated the existing apartment block, making the apartments relevant and liveable by contemporary standards and offering a more generous facade to the water. The new elevation to the harbour is an elegant, unified addition to the foreshore landscape.
